Charente Maritime, Ile d'Oléron
Located on the west coast of the island of Oléron, this Charentais village is renowned for its small artisanal fishing port, the 1st in Charente Maritime and 7th nationally!
Every morning, early and in a good mood, set off to meet the fishermen, or register with the tourist office for a guided tour of the auction. Every day from 3:30 p.m., after the auction sales, find all the seafood products on sale at the Victorine market.
You can still admire today the small fishermen's houses, white with green or blue shutters, and dotted with hollyhocks which make the specificity of the village, or sit on the terrace of a café, facing the comings and goings boats, or even taste oysters, a symbol of local gastronomy! In summer, this village is very lively: carnival, concerts, night markets, every evening its share of surprises. Finally, for shore fishing enthusiasts, go to the beach north of the village which stretches over 100 meters, revealing many rocks at low tide.
