The discovery of the island, in all its charm, is possible by car when crossing the famous passage du GOIS, the road which only appears at low tide & connects the island to the mainland in 4km. Just a kind of magic.
It is also accessible from the bridge, which is also free: you can plan to go via Les Gois, return via the bridge, and vice versa.
Noirmoutier Island; of its pretty flowery name, “the island of mimosas”, presents landscapes as varied as each other, alternating sandy beaches, dunes, creeks, woods of pines and holm oaks and salt marshes.
Discover in particular its capital, Noirmoutier-en-île, its pretty white houses, its port and its 12th century church. Many cycle paths will allow you to discover the riches of this island. Famous for its salt but also for its oyster and potato with a unique taste: the Bonnotte.
Unmissable on NOIRMOUTIER Ile aux Papillons: A different walk … among butterflies and tropical flowers from all over the world. It is the largest greenhouse in France.
