Gatseau beach, Pavillon Bleu french label certified, is located at the extreme south of the Ile d'Oléron in the town of Saint Trojan Les Bains.
It is a huge fine sandy beach, probably the most beautiful on the island, ideally facing south, and sheltered from the westerly winds by the dense forest of St Trojan and its varied species.
It faces the continent and offers a breathtaking view of the bay and the Arvert peninsula.
At low tide, the ocean reveals a muddy foreshore which allows shore fishing to the delight of amateurs and children.
On the practical side: the beach has free parking nearby. It is supervised by beach lifeguards in July and August and is equipped with sanitary facilities.
